Matt Ornstein serves as Chief Investment Officer and is a founding partner at WinCo Partners, specializing in strategic partnership development and capital formation. Matt lives in Jacksonville, Florida and he earned a degree in business from the McIntyre School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in 1990. 

Matt began his career at The Home Depot and transitioned into real estate investing and development in the mid-1990s, winning multiple first-place awards from the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association for his multifamily developments. In 2002, Matt co-founded a real estate investment firm that, over the past twenty-five years, has invested over $700mm in various classes of development-grade real estate.

In 2020, Matt co-founded Fortem Holdings, a private equity and investment firm with a combined portfolio of 9 operating businesses and real estate development companies that have consistently achieved financial results above the industry average. Matt also serves (or has served) on the Board of Directors for several companies with combined enterprise values of over a billion dollars.

Matt’s companies also have the distinction of creating and sustaining value in the communities in which they operate and employ.

Matt’s personal interests include time with friends and family, biking, reading, skiing, surfing, and traveling. Throughout Matt’s career, he has generously supported the community and many charitable organizations.
